         Swati's Profile

Swati Vaishnav is an accomplished dance teacher, choreographer and a producer-director (the musical dance drama: Sur Shyam Matwala, 1990). She received her Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Sociology from St. Xaviers College in Mumbai, India and is now successfully running a dance school, "Nartan Rang" of Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan, in New York.

Swati has been associated with Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan, which is a premier cultural and educational organization, as its folk dance teacher for over 20 years. She trained in the classical dance medium of Bharat Natyam for four years and then transferred her concentration on becoming a folk and semi-classical dance artist and choreographer. Swati received that training under well reknowned artist Mr. Shyam Mithaiwala of Mumbai.

Her students have been participants and numerous-time winners of various dance competitions in New York, New Jersey, and- many other cities nationwide including both the Regional and National FOGANA (Federation of Indian Associations in North America) Garba Raas competitions. The students have also performed at many esteemed institutions such as the United Nations, the Liberty Science Center, Queens Museum of Art, the Indian Consulate, the American Museum of Natural History, as well as at the Bhavan's reception of the Indian Prime Minister, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Swati's dance troupe, Nartan Rang, provides a cultural, educational, & social outlet for children of all ages to learn, change, and grow as young Indians in America.
